Lester Chambers Attack on Stage After Dedicating Song to Trayvon Martin

Lester Chambers of the Chambers Brothers was performing at a Blues festival in California, dedicated his song to Trayvon Martin, and the violence that the right was warning about came his way, courtesy of someone that ensures that Fox News will never touch this story.

Dylan Chambers, son of music icon Lester Chambers, has just posted (6 pm PST on Facebook, Saturday, July 13, 2013:

"Dylan Here.... Lester was just assaulted on stage at The Russell City Hayward Blues Festival by a crazed woman after dad dedicated ‘People Get Ready’ to Trayvon Martin. He is on the way to the hospital now.”
Lester Chambers, founding member of popular 1960s recording artists, The Chambers Brothers, was on stage at The Russell City Hayward Blues Festival tonight when his son said the attack occurred. It is indeed disturbing news for the 73-year-old singer, who just yesterday announced on his Facebook page, he’d completed the last hurdle prior to releasing his first album in over 40 years.

In the recent past Chambers has battled poor health and financial challenges, with the help of the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, who came to his rescue to provide a safe place to live, after he’d been sleeping in the most humble of accommodations.

Chambers name first came back to the minds and hearts of classic rock music friends about 15 months ago when he posted a photo of one of his gold records and a sign taped to the plaque that noted how he and his brothers had entertained thousands of people in the 1960s, how they’d sold millions of albums for Columbia Records (whose rights today are owned by Sony) and how he had never squandered a dime of any money on any of the usual traps that take musicians’ life savings, e.g., drugs, alcohol and risk-filled living. Instead, he’d been waiting for his royalty payments, long, long overdue.

Rob Max and the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, a nonprofit, worked diligently in Lester’s behalf and thanks to the Internet, in only 24 hours’ time last March, over $10,000 was raised the first day. And in even more exciting news, enterpreneur and businessman Alexis Ohanian created a Kickstarter project for Lester to be able to record and release a new album, with all proceeds going to his benefit via Sweet Relief Musicians Fund. Over $61,084 was raised via Kickstarter from 2,193 backers, whose generosity exceeded the $39,000 needed to produce the album.

As of just 24 hours ago, the overused catch phrase had never been more appropriate: “Lester Chambers’ time had indeed come.”

Lester’s post on his Facebook page just 21 hours ago detailed the excitement surrounding the most wonderful time in his lifetime, at long last:

“HELLO FACEBOOK FRIENDS-FANS-FAMILY! Exciting things happening now in My son and My career!!! FIRST OFF My Album "Lester's Time Has Come" has Finally Cleared and is being pressed now and readied for Digital Distribution! Next I am playing The Russell City/Hayward Blues Festival Tomorrow!!! Then Sunday I am joining My son Dylan and his band Dylan Chambers & The Midnight Transit at The Art & Garden Festival!!! THEN NEXT WEEK THE FUSE NETWORK is coming to My house to talk with My son and I about our musical careers where we will tell them about My son Dylan Chambers amazing new success working with the legendary producer Narada MIchael Walden and there new hit hit HIT there are about to unleash to the world!!! Exciting Times!!!

LOVE LESTER CHAMBERS!”

Unfortunately, in the blink of an eye, and again in another 24-hour period, everyone’s favorite music icon was reported attacked onstage right after dedicating “People Get Ready” to Trayvon Martin. Lester’s friends and fans are encouraged to post well wishes and prayer notices on his Facebook page. Lester’s son Dylan will be posting updates on his condition as they become available. Already, 233 comments, prayers and well wishes have been posted on Lester's page, as his fans react to this breaking news.

This day is possibly the saddest day in Lester Chambers’ past year, contrasted to the past year, at last, one of the happiest years of his life. The good news is that his son, Dylan, is in his life to take good care of Lester, respected social media expert and enterpreneur, Alexis Ohanian, is working to secure a rejuvenation of the name and music for Lester Chambers on the 2013 music scene, and Rob Max and the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund have Lester’s back.

It is hoped that Lester will indeed have "his day" of financial peace and health security as soon as possible, that he'll require only outpatient treatment and can be released from the hospital soon to rest and return to the spotlight, where he belongs, at long last.

Breaking update on Lester's condition

Update from Dylan Chambers as of 8:17 pm PST "Dad is OK!"

Friends of the classic rock music world can now breathe a collective sigh of relief, and get ready to hear more from Lester Chambers in the very near future.
