Foreign Ministry: Syria condemns the racist Prawer-Begin plan in Negev

Jul 23, 2013

Damascus, (SANA)- Syria condemns in the strongest terms the racist Prawer-Begin plan that would lead to the confiscation of 800,000 dunams of land and forced displacement of 40,000 Palestinians in Negev, in addition to the destruction of 36 villages, the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry spokesman said Monday.

"This racist plan to build settlements comes in the context of Israel going too far in the process of ethnic cleansing against our Palestinian Arab people and land confiscation and displacement of Palestinian residents," the spokesman added in a statement to SANA.

He stressed that the Prawer-Begin plan is part of the racist ethnic cleansing policies that Israel has practiced against the Palestinians in occupied Palestine since 1948 with the aim to Judaize the land and put an end to what is left of Palestine Cause with its historical, geographic, demographic and heritage dimensions.

The spokesman described the Prawer-Begin plan as "dangerous" and that it constitutes a blatant violation of the international law and its principles, particularly those related to human rights.

"Syria demands that the international community moves immediately to stop this plan and deter the occupation forces and hold them accountable for their unilateral violations of the international law," the spokesman told SANA.

He stressed Syria's call to stand by the Palestinian Arab people in the face of these racist Zionist measures so as to bring them to a halt as they pose a threat to the security and stability in the region.

PLO delegation affirms to Mikdad commitment to security and stability of Syria

Jul 23, 2013

Damascus, (SANA) – Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Fayssal Mikdad on Tuesday met a delegation from the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) headed by Zakariya al-Agha.

During the meeting, al-Agha affirmed the strength of the relations between Syria and Palestine and their people, stressing that the Palestinian leadership is intent on improving relations with Syria and that it's committed to Syria's security and stability.

He emphasized the Palestinian Leadership position on Palestinian refugees remaining uninvolved in events in Syria, noting that people in the Palestinian camps in Syria are suffering due to the acts of armed groups which entered the camps.

Al-Agha thanked the Syrian government for its efforts to alleviate the suffering of Palestinian refugees.

For his part, Mikdad said that despite the current difficulties, Syria is committed to its strategic decision to confront the Israeli aggression against the Arab people and end Israel's occupation of Arab lands in Palestine and the Syrian Golan.

Mikdad said that terrorist target Palestinian refugee camps in Syria in an attempt to drag Palestinians into the current events, which is part of a plan to liquidate the Palestinian people's rights, primarily their right to return.
