Over 100 people have been reported killed in the North African state of Egypt during clashes between supporters and opponents of the military which overthrew President Mohamed Morsi on July 3. The military has ordered all opposition forces off the streets of Cairo and other cities.
Unrest has continued as well in Tunisia where a leading opposition figure Mohamed Brahmi of the People's Party was assassinated Thursday July 25. Mass demonstrations and strikes have taken place over the last three days.
In the West African state of Mali 27 candidates are contending in the first round of a presidential poll. Mali has been facing turmoil since the imperialist war against Libya during 2011.
Finally, in the city of Detroit retirees and their supporters demonstrated outside the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center (CAYMAC) on Friday July 26 demanding hands off their pensions and cancel the debt. The first bankruptcy hearing was held on Wednesday July 24.
There is also a special segment on the revelation by the Black Puerto Rican juror in the George Zimmerman case who said this week that the defendant got away with the murder of 17-year-old African American youth Trayvon Martin. Also we reviewed the address delivered by Sybrina Fulton, the mother of Trayvon Martin, at the National Urban League Convention in Philadelphia.
