SACP Gauteng leads a succesful picket/protest against imperialist USA President Obama at University of Johannesburg (UJ)

SACP Gauteng led a successful picket as part of the NOBAMA Campaign protesting against the visit to our country by the USA President Barack Obama. The picket was attended by various revolutionary and progressive organisations that are part of the NOBAMA coalition.
Member of the SACP Central Committee and National Secretary of the YCL, comrade Buti Manamela (MP) delivered a key-note address, and the Provincial Chairperson of COSATU comrade Phuthas Tseki also delivered a message of support.
Leaders of various organisations such as the South African Students Congress (SASCO), the University of UJ Student Representative Council (SRC) and other organisations also delivered messages of support.
Picket action called for the immediate release of the Cuban Five comrades that are currently detained by the USA government for fighting and exposing USA sponsored and funded acts of terrorism unleashed against the people of Cuba.
Protesters supported the Cuban Five who in the true spirit of former SA President Nelson Mandela, himself once considered a terrorist by the USA led imperialist countries fought to defend Cuba against terrorism harboured by the USA government. Protesters appreciated sacrifices made by Cubans to free our country and Namibia and for defending Angola and other African states against USA sponsored terrorism. Cuba currently support SA on many issues such as the Cuban doctors that continue to save lives in our country`s rural areas.
Protesters also called for the immediate lifting of the unjust economic blockade signed by the then USA President Kennedy on the 03rd, February 1962 imposing economic, commercial and financial sanctions against the peaceful and most humane working class and poor of Cuba.
President Obama was also challenged to shutdown Guantanamo-bay prison in Cuba. Protesters called for hands off Cuba and to allow its people to leave peacefully and freely under conditions of their choice and not those imposed by the USA.
Protesters also condemned President Obama`s continued support of the Zionist Israel state of terror and tyranny unleashed against the peace loving and innocent working class of Palestine. Protesters pledged their solidarity with many people of the wordl that are suffering under the Imperialist policies of the USA.
Protesters condemned President Obama and expressed concern that during his two term of office, he will simply be remembered as a stooge, puppet and shadow of his predecessor George W Bush.
Picket ended peacefully without any serious incident.
